Let's get acquainted!

http://flyingintofirst.blogspot.com/

This week's linky is What would you take if you were stranded on a deserted island.

1.  (okay I am cheating a bit)  My family.  I couldn't imagine my world without them.  Yes they drive me crazy.  Yes I would be a little more sane without them.  Yes the wrestling, fighting, and arguing gets old, but I love them.

2.  A nice fluffy pillow!
I always need a good pillow.  I really cannot sleep well without a pillow.  I hate flat pillows that I cannot flip over to where it is cool!

3.  An endless supply of books (okay I am cheating again, but I cannot just pick one!)

I took one day off of blogs and omg.....

Yesterday I took the day off reading and writing.  I played some games on Pogo (my little birthday splurge every year), reorganized rooms, and dealt with sickies at home.  My littlest one has been battling the stomach flu and my oldest one (the husband) contracted it too.  I kept myself busy.  I was a little down that I missed some flash freebies, but I got a few more thing accomplished.  Everyone is going giveaway crazy again!

I am going to be updating the giveaway page through the day!  Today is the last day before I go back for the last surge before summer break.  I am doing a balancing act of surviving through the last of the year and planning for next year.

I have not heard if I will be changing grades.  I HOPE to stay where I am.  The first year in a new curriculum is the hardest.  I do not do well teaching from a book, but this year I have done a lot of that.  Next year I am excited to integrate more of my math with the science and social studies.  I specialize in math so I do not teach science and social studies, but some of the units and collections I have seen on TPT have inspired me!

Oops! A couple of blog tutorials and giveways

I made the comment on another blog that I hate the verifications.  For some reason I have a lot of trouble reading them.  I was looking this morning and realized it is default.  So I had them on my own blog.  I hadn't looked before!  OOPS!  Here is how I got rid of them.

Go to your settings and go to posts and comments.

Word verification is the pop up that "proves" you're human when you leave a comment.  Done!

Almost all of my pictures are linked to the website they come from, especially with giveaways.  It is really easy to do.  Highlight the picture you want to link and press Link.
Put the website's url and click ok.  You're done!!

I hope these help!!  Now for some giveaways.  (The pictures are linked!)

Spring break- half done or half to go?

I am working hard on getting my spring break bucket list done.  I think I am being a little hard on myself because my list is not getting much shorter as fast as I was expecting.  It may be because my little one has been a little more whiny and clingy the last few days.  So  I am going to keep it short tonight so I can try to get some more things done tonight!  Check out this HUGE giveaway!

The ducks of Sandy Hook and Currently

The Ducks Of Sandy Hook Elementary

https://www.facebook.com/TheDucksOfSandyHookElementary

The story of the ducks
I am assigned to the Sandy Hook School as the school based police officer. A donor had sent approximately 500 small rubber ducks, which the kids loved immensely. My counterpart and I spread them out everyday in the lobby of the school kids, and yes adults, take them to keep. The joy the ducks bring to everyone can not be put into words. We plan to keep buying ducks and placing them out everyday as long as the school is in use. Anyone that would like to help us with the purchasing of the ducks, your help is greatly appreciated. If you would like to send a monetary donation or order ducks contact me and I will provide an address. Everyone in the school enjoys the ducks and we never want to have to tell anyone we don't have any to give them, child or adult.

Oriental Trading is offering free shipping on all ducks sent to Sandy Hook.

Let's get acquainted, Autism awareness, and a giveaway

http://flyingintofirst.blogspot.com/2013/03/lets-get-acquainted-linky-time-link-up.html

I am having so much fun with these!!  I also love reading the others, especially when I find other geeks/nerds like me!

Favorite Place to Shop

If you have been following for a while, this will not be a surprise.  Even though I teach math, I LOVE to read!  So I love to get lost in a bookstore.

Every time we travel home to Ohio, this is one of our stops.  I wish there was one in North Carolina!  It just needs to be far enough away so I will pay the bills and eat instead of buy books!

I feel a little guilty shopping at a chain, but it is full of books!  The guilt does not last long especially with a Starbucks to help my survive.

Favorite TV show

My favorite tv show is Dr. Who.  I told you I was a geek!

I also love to watch Law and Order:  SVU.

Since I have an infant and a job, Hulu and dvr  are my best friends.

My favorite sweet treat

I have food allergies, not major ones.  They are enough to cause me a lot of discomfort if I eat something I shouldn't.

My safe sweet treat                                           My every once and a while sweet treat

Product Details

Favorite Food

Strawberries!!  and Blueberries!

Favorite Restaurant
I love many restaurants, chain and independent!  It just depends on what mood I am in.

My Chinese comes from a little place called Golden Wok.  They know us in there.

My Italian comes from La Mama or Mama's, both local places.  If I go gluten free then Olive Garden.

My hamburgers, when I am home, come from Kewpee (Lima, Ohio)

This used to be a chain throughout the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana.  It is said that Dave Thomas worked at one.  This is where his square hamburgers and frosties came from.  My favorite is a Cheeseburger Special with pickles, fries, double large root beer, and sugar cream pie.

Now I am craving one and I have to wait until July.

Onto a great linky promoting Autism awareness.
