Stick Pick and Giveaways

Good evening.  I survived a day where I was the only regular teacher and our regular assistant.  We usually have three teachers, our assistant, and our professional learning specialist.  So the reading teacher was at a training.  The science/social studies teacher was out due to a minor surgery and recovery.  The professional learning specialist was out due to her son being sick.  It was chaos trying to keep everyone on schedule, on procedure, and just holding it together.  We survived with only a few battle scars.

I wanted to tell you about a great app called Stick Pick.

I have used sticks and playing cards to rotate who I call on.  This is the electronic version of this with a twist.  I put in all my students with their grouping.  Now I have a ton of options with this app.  I can use it just as tracking those I call on.  When I mark them as used they go into a used can.

I can also try to ask them critical thinking questions and track their responses.

I thought it was just cool to track who I called on.  I am still exploring it and finding something new each time I try it!!  Check it out in the app store and read more reviews there!
